Elsa Schiaparelli at the Victoria and Albert Museum: “Schiap” was a remarkable couturier who was fascinated by surrealism and collaborated with Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau and Albert Giacometti. The current exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London features hundreds of her rare creations including fashion, hats, buttons, perfume bottles and jewellery. You can also be dazzled by the work of her successor, Daniel Rosebery, who has led the design direction of the house since 2019 and dresses many of the world’s most popular celebrities. The Design Gallery was launched in 2002 to specialise in progressive design movements of the 19th and 20th Century. We met whilst studying at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and discovered that we shared a passion for design, especially Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement.
