The Christian Dior exhibition in Paris is breathtaking. Staged at Le Galerie Dior next door to the original 30 Avenue Montaigne boutique, it tells the story of Monsieur Dior’s journey through all of the remarkable designers until the present day. One visitor commented “it knocks spots off the London exhibition.” The couture gowns are exquisite. The handbags, shoes and jewellery are to-die-for, and yes, we once had the Mitchell Maer flower diamante brooch (I knew we shouldn’t have sold it!)
Presently the exhibition appears to be continuing beyond the original closing date of mid-February 2023. Tickets are best booked in advance, as 1000 people a day are visiting and queues might form www.galeriedior.com If you love designer fashion, this is the best money you can spend in Paris right now. You could also watch the charming film Mrs Harris Goes to Paris (Amazon Prime), kindly recommended by one of our clients. The new version features Lesley Manville; you could look out for the 1992 film Mrs ‘Arris Goes to Paris on YouTube starring Angela Lansbury. The book by Paul Gallico was originally published as Flowers for Mrs Harris in the 1950s.
