EXTENDED UNTIL SATURDAY 4th JANUARY 5pm: ADORNMENTS; VENETIAN AND BOHEMIAN TRADE BEADS.
Tracy Chevalier, the best-selling author of ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, came to The Design Gallery on Thursday 14th November to open our Exhibition and to talk about her latest novel “THE GLASSMAKER.” Spanning 500 years of Venetian history, the story charts the fortunes of a Muranese glassmaking family and the fascinating roles that women and the bead trade played across the centuries.
This unique show is open Wednesdays to Saturdays 10am-5pm, free entrance. The exhibition features two private collections plus a selling show of over 50 antique bead necklaces and earrings.
The Design Gallery was launched in 2002 to specialise in progressive design movements of the 19th and 20th Century. We met whilst studying at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and discovered that we shared a passion for design, especially Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts Movement.
